Crow Guard Installation

Crows and jackdaws love open chimney pots. A properly fitted crow guard helps keep them out, along with the twigs and nesting material they bring.

Why crows choose chimneys

To a jackdaw, an open chimney pot looks like a sheltered hollow tree. They drop sticks in until a platform forms, then build a nest on top. Over a season this can pack a flue with material.

How a crow guard works

The Allgrip Crow Guard has wavy steel legs that grip the inside of the pot and a flat top cover that sits above it. The gaps keep large birds out while letting the chimney breathe, and the cover helps shed rain.

When a crow guard isn't the right choice

Crow guards are generally suited to open fireplaces and disused chimneys with standard round pots. Stoves, gas appliances and lined flues often need a different terminal. We check this before fitting.
